Introduction

In the video game Obduction there is a really cool visual effect for loading screens in which the surrounding scene dissolves into floating particles before forming into a new scene. The effect can be seen in this video .

With our project we aim to replicate the same visual effect in a set of 3D environments. The project will be built on the Unreal Engine, in which the environments and visual effects can be created.

Controls

  • Mouse to look around and navigate the menus
  • W, A, S, D to move around
  • E to interact (only in Final Release)
  • P to open up the Pause Menu (only in Final Release)

How to Run the Final Release build (Windows only)

  1. Go to this Google Drive link and download ObductionRecreationFinalRelease.zip. The file is approximately 1.13GB large.
  2. Extract the ZIP archive to your desired location.
  3. Run ObductionRecreation.exe. If Windows Smartscreen shows a warning, please click More info -> Run anyway. If Windows Firewall asks for elevated permissions, click which ever one you desire.

How to Run the Proof Of Concept build (Windows only)

  1. Go to this Google Drive link and download the ProofOfConceptBuild.zip. The file is approximately 1.65GB large.
  2. Extract the ZIP archive to your desired location.
  3. Run InitialEnvironmentAlt.exe. If Windows Smartscreen shows a warning, please click More info -> Run anyway. If Windows Firewall asks for elevated permissions, click which ever one you desire - it doesn't matter for this demo.
  4. To close the demo, ALT-TAB and close the program or press the Windows key and close the program or use Task manager to close the program. You can do it!
